Otter Rock and Roll Surfing Contest

What: Co-Ed Youth Surf Contest and Beach Cleanup Challenge
When: June 18, 2011 8am-4pm
Where: Otter Rock State Park
Registration: Pre-registration $10 and Beach registration $20. The contest is open to all surfers and beginners ages 18 and under. Participants must have an adult register and fill out a waiver form. Registration and waiver can be downloaded here and mailed to the below address also found on the registration form. Beach registration is also available but participants are highly encouraged to pre-register as space is limited to 50 participants and slots will fill up quickly. Pre-registrations may also be emailed to otterrocknroll@gmail.com, but we are unable to accept payments online. Checks should be made out to Newport Chapter of Surfrider Foundation, please do not mail cash. Pre-registration deadline is June 14th to ensure mail delivery prior to the contest.

Limit to 50 surfers
FORMAT:
6 Man Heats (may change depending on beach signups)
Everyone wins a prize for participating, top 3 in each division win a special prize from one of our sponsors.

About the Contest
The Otter Rock n Roll was started 3 years ago in celebration of International Surfing Day, which falls on June 20th. Founded seven years ago by the Surfrider Foundation and Surfing Magazine, International Surfing Day unites surfers from around the world in celebration of the sport of surfing. As is tradition with the annual holiday, surfers do their part to give back to our oceans, waves and beaches through various organized events such as clean-ups and restoration projects hosted by the Surfrider Foundation. The Newport Chapter of Surfrider Foundation, in partnership with the Portland and Siuslaw Chapters and local sponsors, give back to the youth through this fun and engaging event, the Otter Rock n Roll which generally falls the weekend prior to International Surfing Day in order to help engage more people in their event.
